Who can take the Training Program in Child Development?

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, the Training Program in Child Development (TPCD) can help you reach this goal! An individual can take the Training Program in Child Development (TPCD) if the individual:

  1. Currently works as a child care provider in any of these settings:
    1. Accreditation Facilitation Project (AFP) selected sites
    2. DSS funded center
    3. School Readiness funded center
    4. Head Start programs
    5. Family child care homes
    6. Family, Friend and Neighbor care provider
  2. Does not yet have a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  3. Does not have any college credits.

The Training Program in Child Development (TPCD) is provided by Connecticut Charts-A-Course (CCAC) and offered statewide for child care providers. This training offers you an opportunity to:

  • Meet and share information in an informal setting with others taking care of children
  • Collect ideas, activities and resources.
  • Attend training at convenient times and locations throughout CT.
  • Participate in trainings that count toward the training requirement for the Child Development Associate (CDA credential).
  • Participate in trainings that can transfer into college credit in early childhood education.
