1. What are the eligibility requirements?
To be eligible to apply for scholarship assistance an individual must be a member of the Connecticut Charts-A-Course Registry, currently employed in a child care program that is licensed by the Department of Public Health and meet eligibility requirements as set forth by the funding organizations and agencies that fund the Scholarship Assistance Program. 3. Do I have to be part of the Registry to receive a scholarship?
Yes. In order to receive scholarship assistance from Connecticut Charts-A-Course you must be a member of the Registry.
4. How can I check the status of my scholarship request?
Once you are a member of the Registry, you can check your scholarship status under “MY SCHOLARSHIPS” then go to “SCHOLARSHIP HISTORY”. Please check your Registry email account to see if you have been approved for a scholarship first before calling the Connecticut Charts-A-Course office.
5. How long does it take to find out if I am approved for a scholarship?
If your application information is complete, Connecticut Charts-A-Course’s approval process takes 7-10 business days. If your application is incomplete and requires further action on the part of the Registry member, then the approval process can take longer than usual.
6. How does my tuition get paid to the college or agency once I have been approved for a scholarship?
Connecticut Charts-A-Course issues a scholarship award/voucher directly to each college or agency business office by email on your behalf.
7. If I requested a scholarship and was approved, do I have to re-apply every time I want to take another course and resubmit the same paperwork again?
Yes. You must reapply each time you request a scholarship to determine if you still meet the eligibility requirements. Your employer must log onto the Registry to reconfirm your employment. If you have not done so already, you must submit a current FEDERAL 1040 with every application for scholarship.
8. I paid for an out-of-pocket expense using my own money, how can I get reimbursed?
Although reimbursements cannot be guaranteed, Connecticut Charts-A-Course encourages all individuals to apply. 9. If I don’t use my scholarship award during a semester, can I save it and use it for another time?
All scholarships award/vouchers are valid for ONLY 30 days. If you cannot use the voucher within 30 days, please return the voucher to the Grants Manager with a letter explaining why you cannot use the scholarship award/voucher. Scholarship award/vouchers that are not returned to Connecticut Charts-A-Course will result in a future scholarship requests being placed on hold as a result of the September 2008 Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
10. What is the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy?
As of September 2008, Connecticut Charts-A-Course implemented a Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. The purpose of this policy is to continue to help program staff move along the CCAC Career Ladder, as well as insure that all of the appropriate supports and resources are in place to help an individual be academically successful.
