1. What does it mean to matriculate?

To matriculate means to enroll in a college or university in a degree program and to designate a program of study. An example of this would be to enroll at a community college and designate Early Childhood Education Associate Degree as your program of study.

2. How do I get my foreign credentials evaluated?

The following service agencies are recognized by both the Connecticut State Department of Education and Charter Oak State College. Scholarships are available for Foreign Credential Evaluations providing the applicant meets current CCAC priorities.

3. What is the ACCU-PLACER EXAM?

ACCUPLACER
The ACCUPLACER EXAM was developed by the College Board and is used to help determine course selection for students. The ACCUPLACER exam has three sections: Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills, and Math. It also determines a person’s eligibility for English 101 and Math 101.

4. What are the Early Childhood Pathways Exams?

Early Childhood Pathways Exams can help convert early childhood experience and non-credit training into four lower (100) level courses. Three (3) credits are awarded for each of the following exam passed:

  • Introduction to Early Childhood Education (available in both English and Spanish)
  • Child Developmental Psychology (available in both English and Spanish)
  • Infant/Toddler Development.
  • Early Language and Literacy Development

5. Are scholarships available for college tuition from Connecticut Charts-A-Course?

Yes, the Scholarship Assistance Program is a grant funded scholarship program that provides financial assistance to individuals that are currently employed in early care and education program, meet the scholarship eligibility requirements and wish to pursue early childhood coursework that leads to either a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and/or higher education degrees in Early Care and Education.
